Ingredients

The ingredients you’ll need for this recipe are:

  • 2 cups of gluten free all purpose flour (Pillsbury or Bob’s Red Mill are great choices)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of xanthan gum (remove if your flour already contains this)
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
  • 1 cup of buttermilk
  • 6 tablespoons of butter (unsalted)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 extra tablespoons of gluten free all purpose flour

Step By Step

Step 1: Make The Dough

Preheat your oven to 450F. Grab a large bowl and add the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Mix the dry ingredients together. Cut your butter into small cubes and place in the freezer for 5-10 minutes. Remove from freezer and cut into the flour mixture with a fork. Now add a whisked egg, along with the buttermilk. Keep mixing until a dough begins to form. Try not to overmix-  the dough is supposed to be sticky!

Step 2: Form The Biscuits – Gluten Free Canned Biscuits

Add a tablespoon of flour to parchment paper. Put your dough onto the floured parchment paper. Add another tablespoon of flour to the dough and mix with your hands gently. Using your hands, make a circle around 7 inches (diameter) and 1 inch of thickness. Use a biscuit cutter (or anything circular) to cut out biscuits around 2 inches (diameter). You’ll need to reform the dough a few times. Repeat the process until you have used all the dough. Place your biscuits onto a greased baking sheet.

Step 3: Bake The Biscuits

Place your biscuits into the center of your preheated oven for around 15-20 minutes. The biscuits should be golden brown when they are ready. Remove from oven and brush on melted butter, if you’d like. Or serve as they are. Enjoy!
