  • Measuring Cup
  • Sifter
  • Medium Mixing Bowl
  • Whisk
  • Baking Sheet
  • Ladle

Ingredients

  • Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • Cup Powdered Sugar
  • ¼ Teaspoon Salt
  • 3 Tablespoon Milk
  • 1 Cup Oil
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  • Using the sifter, sift the all-purpose flour into the medium mixing bowl. Make sure to thoroughly sift to remove any clumps.
  • In the medium mixing bowl with the sifted flour, add the rest of the dry ingredients. This should include sugar and salt. Stir to combine.
  • In the same mixing bowl, it’s time to add the wet ingredients. This will include the oil, vanilla extract, and milk. Mix to combine. The mixture will be naturally crumbly.
  • First, grease the baking tray. Scoop out the dough using the ladle. Remove the dough from the ladle using your hands to smoothen out and roll the dough. Then, place the dough on the baking sheet. Use the ladle to press the dough down gently. Complete this step for the rest of the dough, evenly arranging each dough ball.
  • Place the baking tray in the oven. Bake for 10-15 minutes at 350 F until the Gireba is golden-brown.
  • Once these Perfect Milky Girebas are done, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool.
  • Garnish with desiccated coconut or sesame seeds (or both). Serve with your drink or tea of choice, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Use parchment paper to line the baking tray to decrease clean-up time after baking the Milky Gireba.
  • If you don’t have any milk, you can replace the milk with a ¼ cup of milk powder in the recipe.
  • For those that desire a more coconut-y taste to their Gireba, add ¾ cup of coconut powder to this recipe.
