To start off making this Sweetie Pie’s Yam Recipe, set the cutting board on a flat surface. Start to peel the skin off the yams.
On the same cutting board, grab the Chef’s knife. Cut the yams lengthwise first. Then, cut the yams in half, before slicing them into ¾ inch slices.
Set the medium pot on a burner. Raise the heat to medium temperature. Add in the butter to melt and coat the bottom of the pot.
In the same pot, add the water, nutmeg, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Stir to combine.
Now that the seasonings have been mixed together, raise the heat of the burner to high heat to reach a boil.
In the boiling pot, drop in the peeled and cut up yams. Stir to combine with the seasonings.
Reduce the heat of the boiling pot to a low temperature. Place the cover on the pot.
Allow the yams to cook for about 20 minutes or until the yams are candied. The edges of the yams should be slightly hard but the yams should still be tender.
We recommend serving this take on Sweetie Pie’s Yam recipe piping hot! Enjoy!
