Rice paper can be used in many recipes, but I find dessert recipes one of the most delicious ways to use them in baking and cooking. We’ll be looking at two different recipes: banana rice paper rolls and baked apple pie rice paper rolls.

Banana Rice Paper Rolls

Fried banana rice paper rolls drizzled in caramel sauce – what more could you ask for from a dessert? This recipe is inspired by one from Create Kids Club, and it’s super easy to make.

  • 8 rice paper wrappers (spring roll wrappers will also work)
  • 4 medium bananas (cut in half)
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of apple pie spice
  • vegetable oil (for frying)
  • caramel sauce
  • vanilla ice cream

Step By Step

Step 1: Prepare

Gather all of the ingredients you need for this recipe. Using a fryer, skillet, or pan, add at least one inch of oil and heat to 350F. In a bowl, add the sugar and apple pie spice. Mix well and leave to one side.

Step 2: Make the Rolls

Firstly, you’ll need to wet the wrappers. Submerge into water for around 10 seconds, then remove. Once wet, add around a teaspoon of your sugar mixture to each wrapper. Now add a small amount of banana into the center of each wrapper. Fold and roll up. Repeat until all wrappers have been used.

Step 3: Fry the Rolls

Place the rolls into the preheated oil. Leave for around 3 minutes and turn over, and cook for a further 2 minutes. Remove from oil and place on a paper towel. Repeat until all rolls are fried. Plate rolls with a serving of caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream.

  • 1/3 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

Step 1: Prepare

Gather all of the ingredients you need for this recipe and preheat your oven to 450F. Prepare a pan with parchment paper or oil it well.

Step 2: Make the Filling

Peel the apples and then cut the peeled apples into slices. Add the slices to a bowl, along with the brown sugar and cinnamon. Mix well to ensure the slices are well coated. In a separate bowl, add some water and place the rice paper wrappers in the water for around 10 seconds each to soften them.

Step 3: Prepare the Rolls

Place the rice paper onto your work surface and add around 1-2 tablespoons of the sliced apples into the center. Fold the paper, and roll up. Repeat until you have used all of the apple mixture.

Step 4: Bake the Rolls

Place the rolls onto your prepared pan and brush lightly with oil. Now place into the center of your preheated oven for around 25-30 minutes. Remove from oven and serve warm with vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
