What You Will Need To Make Fleischmann’s Spiced Sweet Potato Rolls…but Vegan-ized

There’s no way you’re not going to like these Vegan-ized Fleischmann’s Spiced Sweet Potato Rolls inspired by Fleischmann’s! Perfectly warm, soothing, and undeniably delicious, these vegan sweet potato rolls are wonderfully tasty.

Ingredients:

For the Rolls:

  • 3-½-4 Cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Cane Sugar
  • 1 Packet Of Fleischmann’s® RapidRise® Instant Yeast
  • 1 Teaspoon Pink Himalayan Salt
  • 1 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • ¼ Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • ¼ Teaspoon Ground Ginger
  • ½ Cup Plant-Based Milk 
  • 2 Tablespoon Vegan Butter (Cut Into Two Tablespoons)
  • 2 Flax Eggs (Plus 2-4 Tablespoons Water)
  • 1 Cup Sweet Potato Puree (From A Can)

For the Rosemary Butter:

  • 2 Tablespoons Vegan Butter
  • 2 Teaspoons Fresh Rosemary (Finely Chopped)

For Finishing the Rolls:

  • Pinch Of Sea Salt
  • Cracked Black Pepper

Step By Step Instructions Make Fleischmann’s Spiced Sweet Potato Rolls…but Vegan-ized

 How do you use Fleischmann's Active Dry Yeast?

Step 1: Prepare The Flax Eggs

To prepare the flax eggs, measure out two tablespoons of ground flaxseed and combine with 2-4 tablespoons of water into a small bowl. Mix and allow to sit until ready to add to the dough m mixture. 

Step 2: Combine The Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients. This will include one cup of all-purpose flour, cane sugar, yeast, pink Himalayan salt, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. 

Step 3: Microwave The Butter With The Plant-Based Milk 

Measure out the plant-based milk in a microwave-safe measuring cup or measure then pour the plant-based milk into a microwave-safe bowl or cup. In the microwave-safe container, add in the vegan butter.

Microwave the mixture for 20-30 second intervals until warm—not hot. 

Step 4: Add Wet Ingredients To Dry Ingredients

Add the plant-based milk and vegan butter mixture to the large mixing bowl of dry ingredients. Then, add in the flax eggs and sweet potato puree. Mix well to combine. 

Step 5: Add More Flour

After combining the other ingredients, now it’s time to add 2 cups of all-purpose flour to the large mixing bowl. Mix. The dough should not be sticky, if it is add ½ cup of flour until it is no longer sticky.

Once the dough becomes too difficult to handle with a mixing tool, it’s time to knead the dough with your hands. 

Step 6: Knead The Dough

You will need to continue to knead the dough until it smoothes out. To know whether to stop kneading the dough or not, press a dry finger to the dough. It shouldn’t stick. If it does, add in ¼ cup of all-purpose flour and continue to knead the dough until it no longer sticks to your finger.

The dough should not be too thin and should spring back.

Step 7: Allow The Dough To Set

Once the dough no longer sticks to your finger, cover the large mixing bowl and allow the dough to sit for 10 minutes.

Step 8: Shape The Dough

It’s now time to shape the dough!

Using a clean, flat space, flour the surface to place the dough in the center. Form a square with the dough by patting it down and shaping with your hands. Cut the dough into quarters, then quarter again to make 16 dough pieces.

Step 9: Shape The Dough, Round Two

Each individual piece of dough should be shaped properly by pulling the surface of the dough piece under itself. This allows for a tight and smooth surface.

Step 10: Let The Dough Rolls Rise

While the oven preheats, grease a 9″x13″ baking dish before adding in the dough rolls. Once all of the dough rolls are added, cover the whole pan and allow the dough rolls to rise for 30 minutes. 

Step 11: Preheat The Oven

It’s time to preheat the oven! Set the oven to 375°F and allow to preheat before adding in the dough rolls.

Step 12: Baking Time!

Now that the dough rolls have had 30 minutes to rise and the oven is preheated, it’s time to bake the rolls! Use a vegan egg wash (mix together 2 tablespoons of plant-based milk and 1 teaspoon of maple syrup), to brush onto the uncovered rolls.

Then, bake for 20-25 minutes until there is a noticeable golden brown coloring.

Step 13: Make The Vegan Rosemary Butter

While the rolls are baking in the oven, it’s time to make the vegan rosemary butter!

Melt the vegan butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Add the vegan butter and chopped rosemary together in a small mixing bowl.

Step 14: Enjoy!

Remove the bread rolls from the oven when they are done. Brush on the vegan rosemary butter, then sprinkle with salt and pepper. Enjoy!
